Cathy
Stephens is one of the most popular and skillful dance teachers
in North America today. Founder and director of Michigan's Pleasant
Moments Vintage Dancers, Cathy has been a professional dance
instructor, social dance historian and choreographer since 1984.
She served a term as Artistic Director of the Flying Cloud Academy
of Vintage Dance in Cincinnati and its performance troupe, The
Flying Cloud Historical Dance Ensemble. She is also Artistic
Director of Grand Traditions
Vintage Dance Academy in Ann Arbor, Michigan. Cathy travels
extensively as a historical dance teacher and in her historical
persona as "the Itinerant Dance Mistress".
Recent appearances of note
include "The Waltz is Dying" in Cincinnati; Harbourfront
in Toronto; the "First Waltz" Viennese Ball in Cleveland;
the Lincoln Ball in Fort Wayne, Indiana; the Oberlin Performance
Institute; and "Stage Door Canteen," a 1940s period
event in Chatham, Ontario.
