Every second Saturday offers a great way to expand your dance
experience in a single afternoon. Classes will be on general
social dancing as well as opportunities to work on the dances
well be doing at the balls.
After the classes, stay for
our Saturday social dance, where you
can socialize and review your new steps. There's nothing like
a little practice for reinforcing what you just learned!
Cathy Stephens teaches the following types of workshops:
· Dancing
Made Easy Series: Social Dance Basics. The easy way to
learn how to dance! As you learn these popular social dances,
youll acquire basic dance skills to help you become a good
partner and give you confidence on the dance floor. These classes
are excellent preparations for weddings, proms, and parties,
as well as our vintage events.
· Celebrating
Our Heritage with Dance. For this anniversary series,
the focus is on old-fashioned fun. The classes will include a
potpourri of easy to learn heritage, early ballroom, and European
folk dances. Many will be danced at our Grand
Reunion Ball in December.
· Vintage
2. This intermediate-level series focuses on period styling
and variations.

Heritage Dances: Varieties
Saturday, October 10
1:00 - 2:00 p.m.
More of the lively and elegant dances that our ancestors loved.
This session will combine set dance figures with simple waltz
and polka steps.

Heritage Dances: European Style
Saturday, November 14
1:00 - 2:00 p.m.
Popular social dances and steps that our ancestors brought with
them from Europe.

Heritage Dances: Polka to Maxixe
Saturday, January 9
1:00 - 2:00 p.m.
What on earth is a Maxixe? And how does it relate to the 20th
century Polka? Come and find out as you try this early ancestor
of the samba. Stay for the Latin Dance class and learn the more
contemporary version of this early ballroom dance.

Heritage Dances: 20th Century Sequence and Party Dances
Saturday, March 13

Come and enjoy these fun and easy group dances from the 20th
century, including the Boston Two Step, Tango Mixer, Big Apple,
and The Lambeth Walk. Basic level.

Social Dance Basics
How to Dance in One Easy Lesson
Saturday, September 12

In this introductory workshop, youll find out how to do
four different dances by learning just one simple step. The focus
will be on dances that you can learn quickly and do to a wide
variety of music.

Easy Swing and 1950s Rock 'n Roll
Saturday, October 10
2:00 - 3:00 p.m.
Swing, Jive, Rock 'n Roll, the Bop
whatever you call it
and whatever your age, you'll enjoy this "blast from the
past," dancing to popular music from the 1940s and '50s.

Putting Steps Together
Saturday, November 14
2:00 - 3:00 p.m.
Once youve learned the basic dance steps, work on putting
them together in easy to lead (and follow) mini-sequences. This
class will help you become a good partner and give you confidence
on the dance floor.

Latin Dance Made Easy
Saturday, January 9
2:00 - 3:00 p.m.
Discover the secret to learning three popular Latin dances in
one easy lesson. Youll be surprised how quickly youll
learn how to do the Merengue, Samba, and Rumba.

Fox Trot: Then and Now
Saturday, March 13
2:00 - 3:00 p.m.
Learn the basic steps of the fox trot as we trace this dance
from its origins in the early 20th century. Well dance
to a variety of fox trot music including original recordings
from the 'teens and 20s, such as Duke Ellington, Big Bands, and
more. Basic level.
